Obama 320-218. He will increase funding for education R&D and usher in a new era of innovation and transformation in education
I'll be conservative and say 311-227 Obama. He'll increase vouchers, increase parental involvement funding, implement experiments with dramatic increases in teacher salaries, appoint a Sec of Ed from a red state, and change the name of the NCLB act (as it has several times over the years).
367-171.
The Obama Presidency will mean the addition of early education programs, community organizing funds around parent and community involvement, and a greater investment in innovation, evaluation and research; better utilization of technology to identify learning styles and tracking student progress. A larger investment in public charter schools but diminished SES dollars to private companies. A major investment in a teacher reward system for placements in underperforming schools, and a strong emphasis of Americorp placements in classrooms and afterschool programs. Federal funding for age-appropriate sex education for states/districts to opt in.
It also means dropping Reading First and other programs associated with the Bush Administration.
Obama Presidency also means a greater understanding of knowledge research and a larger investment in an education genome project.
Obama 417
McCain 189
Greater focus on early childhood education, proposals for more ESEA accountability flexibility, strengthened relationships between ED and SEAs, significantly greater support for education R&D and direct support to schools/districts.
Opps...double count.
Revised prediction: Obama 375, McCain 163
obama 353
mccain 185
More focus on innovation and transformative change in pre-k-12 education.
Carol says Obama 328 and McCain 210. Implications for education would be more emphasis on teacher quality and innovation.
410 for Obama; 128 for McCain. Education emphases will be on collegiate education (community collge in particular), large city schools and early childhood education.
375 for Obama and 153 for McCain-- I originally had the same number as Max, but changed by giving Barack Arizona... Otherwise, you would need to get another owl!
Attracting the best and brightest into education by providing scholarships for pre-service teachers, increased funding for early childhood education, and if Knowledge Alliance can get in early with the message, R & D along with innovation will be a hallmark of this administration.
oops, I meant 385 Obama and 153 McCain-- I'm still eligible for the owl- the polls haven't closed yet...
